Quote to cash: first call to money in the bank
Most lost money in a small trade shop leaks between steps, not inside them.
- First contact. Capture name, address, phone and the problem the first time they call.
- Quote. Send a written quote with scope, price and what is not included.
- Approval and deposit. Get a yes in writing and collect any deposit before ordering materials.
- Work and changes. Record changes as they happen, with the customer's okay.
- Invoice. Send the invoice the same day the work is finished.
- Follow up. Remind politely before the due date and again after it.
Common questions
Where do shops lose the most money?
Usually late invoices and unrecorded extras.
Do I need software for this?
No. A checklist works, but tools help once volume grows.
