Quote follow-up scripts for contractors
Most quotes are lost to silence, not to price. A short, polite follow-up on a schedule wins back jobs.
- Follow up within two days. Ask if they received it and if they have questions.
- Offer one next step. A site visit, a call, or a start date, never an open question.
- Follow up again at one week. Mention the quote expiry date if it has one.
- Close the loop. After a third try, say you will keep the quote open until the expiry date and leave it there.
- Log every contact. Note date and outcome on the job so nobody double-contacts.
Common questions
How often is too often?
Two or three touches over two weeks is normal. Stop if the customer asks you to.
Should I discount to close?
Only if it still covers your costs. Check your margin first with the markup calculator.
