How to price emergency and after-hours calls
Customers accept emergency pricing when it is explained before you arrive.
- Decide what counts as an emergency. Write it down so every tech answers the same way.
- Set the after-hours rate. Cover overtime, truck costs and the disruption to your own family.
- Quote it on the phone. Tell the customer the call-out amount before you dispatch.
- Put it in writing. Send a short confirmation before the tech arrives.
- Review it yearly. Check the rate against your costs and local rules.
