Job site cleanup checklist for contractors

A clean finish is one of the cheapest ways to earn good reviews and referrals.

  1. Remove all debris. Take packaging, offcuts and old parts with you.
  2. Wipe work surfaces. Clean anything you touched, including floors and fixtures.
  3. Check the area against your before photos. Make sure the space looks as good or better than you found it.
  4. Walk the customer through. Show what was done and ask if anything looks off.
  5. Take after photos. Save them with the job record.

Common questions

Who does the cleanup?

Decide in advance. The tech finishing the job is usually best.

Should cleanup time be billed?

Build it into the price rather than adding a surprise line.
