Writing an on-my-way text to a customer
A short message that tells the customer you are coming, who is coming, and what to have ready.
Send a useful on-my-way message
- Say who and when. Give the tech's first name and a realistic arrival time, not an exact minute.
- Name the job. Repeat the address and the reason for the visit so a wrong-address mix-up shows up early.
- Ask for one thing. Clear access to the work area, a pet put away, or someone home to let you in.
- Keep it under three lines. People read these on a phone, often while doing something else.
- Reply the same way. If the customer answers, answer in the same channel so the thread stays in one place.
Common questions
Should I send it every time?
For most visits, yes. It costs a few seconds and prevents missed appointments.
What if I am running late?
Send a new time as soon as you know. See our late arrival guide.
