How to take photos that settle disputes

One good photo can end an argument.

  1. Shoot before you touch anything. Capture existing damage and conditions first.
  2. Include context. A wide shot, then a close-up of the detail.
  3. Photograph labels and serial numbers. They prove which equipment you worked on.
  4. Shoot the finished work. Show clean, complete results from the same angles as before.
  5. Store them with the job. Keep them until your warranty period ends.
