How to share before and after photos with customers

Photos let a customer see the result and give you a record if a question comes up later. A few good shots beat a hundred blurry ones.

  1. Take a before shot first. Stand back far enough to show the whole area, then one close-up of the problem.
  2. Take an after shot from the same spot. Matching angles make the change easy to see.
  3. Show the work that will be hidden. Photograph anything that gets covered, such as inside a wall or under a panel, before it is closed.
  4. Send them with the closeout message. Attach two to four photos and a short plain summary of what was done.
  5. Store them with the job. Name or file them by job and date so you can find them in seconds.

Common questions

Should I ask permission to use photos in marketing?

Yes. Ask first and get a yes in writing, a text or email reply is fine. Never post a customer's home or address without their approval.

How many photos is too many?

Send the few that tell the story. Keep the rest in the job record.
