How to quote a rush job fairly

A simple way to price work the customer needs done faster than your normal schedule.

  1. Check what moves. List which jobs would have to shift and what that costs you.
  2. Add overtime or helper costs. Include real extra labor, not a guess.
  3. Show it as its own line. A separate rush line keeps the base price clear.
  4. Confirm in writing. Get the customer to accept the rush terms before you move your schedule.
  5. Do not overpromise. Give the date you can hit, then beat it if you can.

Common questions

Do I have to charge extra?

No, but rush work often has real costs. Decide your rule ahead of time.

What if I cannot meet the date?

Say so up front and offer the earliest honest date.
