How to keep a short list of trusted trade partners for referrals
Customers ask what else you recommend. A short, honest list makes you more useful and keeps the customer with you.
- Pick partners you have seen work. Only list people whose work and communication you trust.
- Note what each one does and does not do. Include service area, job size and typical response time.
- Confirm their license and insurance. Ask for current documents and keep copies. Check your state's rules.
- Tell the customer it is a suggestion. Make clear the customer hires and pays the partner directly unless you arranged otherwise.
- Review the list twice a year. Remove anyone who stopped answering or whose work slipped.
