How to handle a customer who wants a second opinion
Stay calm, stay factual and keep the door open.
- Say it is fine. Customers are allowed to compare. Resisting makes you look defensive.
- Offer your findings in writing. Photos and a plain description help the other contractor and the customer.
- Do not criticize the other company. Stick to what you saw and what you recommend.
- Follow up once. A short message a few days later is enough.
Common questions
Should I lower my price?
Only if you were already willing to. Do not negotiate against a quote you have not seen.
Should I charge for the diagnosis?
That is your policy. Say so before the visit, not after.
