How to decide what to do with an old unanswered quote

Old quotes clutter the pipeline and can hide real opportunities.

  1. Sort quotes by age. Group them into under 2 weeks, 2 to 6 weeks and older.
  2. Send one friendly follow-up. Ask if they still need the work and whether anything changed.
  3. Offer to update the price. Material and labor costs move, so offer a refreshed quote rather than honoring a stale one.
  4. Close what stays silent. Mark it closed with a reason so your numbers are honest.
  5. Learn from the pattern. If many quotes die for the same reason, adjust how you present them.

Common questions

How long should a quote stay open?

Choose a window and state it on the quote. Many shops use 30 days, but that is your call.
