How to tell a customer about a job delay
A short, honest message beats silence when a job runs late.
Tell customers early and plainly
- Call or message as soon as you know. Do not wait for them to ask.
- Say what happened in one sentence. For example a part is backordered or the previous job ran long.
- Give a new time you can keep. Pick a window with some buffer and stick to it.
- Offer a choice if possible. Reschedule, wait, or send a different tech.
- Follow up when you arrive or finish. A quick message closes the loop.
