How to ask for private feedback before asking for a public review
A quick private check after each job catches problems early and shows you who is happy to post a review.
- Ask the same short question every time. After the job, ask: 'Is there anything you would like us to fix or do differently?'
- Ask in the customer's preferred channel. Use the phone, text or email the customer already used with you.
- Fix what you hear. Reply within a day, say what you will do, and put a date on it.
- Ask for a public review only when the customer is happy. A pleased customer is the natural one to ask. Never offer money or gifts in exchange for a review.
- Note it on the customer record. Write down what they said so the next visit starts well.
Common questions
Is this the same as hiding bad reviews?
No. You are listening early and fixing problems. Customers remain free to post whatever they like, and you should not pressure anyone.
How soon after the job should I ask?
Within a day or two, while the work is fresh.
