Holiday schedule and coverage for contractors
How to plan holiday closures and emergency coverage so customers know what to expect.
Plan holiday coverage
- Publish your dates early. Post closures on your site, voicemail and invoices a few weeks ahead.
- Decide on emergency coverage. Say who is on call and what counts as an emergency.
- Set holiday rates in advance. If rates differ, put them in writing before dispatch.
- Block the calendar. Mark days off so nobody books jobs you cannot cover.
- Plan the first day back. Leave room to catch up on messages and quotes.
Common questions
Do I have to offer emergency service?
No. It is your choice. Be clear about what you do and do not offer.
How do I tell customers?
Voicemail, email signature, your website and a quick text to open jobs all work.
