Voicemail greeting tips for contractors

What a good greeting says so callers leave a message instead of calling the next company.

Write a greeting that gets messages left

  1. Say who you are. Company name and trade in the first sentence.
  2. Say when you call back. Give a realistic time, such as within two business hours.
  3. Ask for the right details. Name, number, address and a one-line description of the problem.
  4. Give an emergency option. If you take emergencies, say how to reach you.
  5. Keep it under twenty seconds. Callers hang up on long greetings.
  6. Test it. Call your own number and listen like a customer.

Common questions

Should I mention prices?
